Proclamation to the Great White Father and All His People

At PACNYC: Perelman Performing Arts Center, *Proclamation to the Great White Father and All His People* stages a document-driven encounter between Indigenous voices and the language of U.S. power. The play draws on speeches, petitions, and official records to trace how “recognition” and “protection” were used to manage land, sovereignty, and identity. For New York audiences, it lands as a local act of historical accounting in a city built on dispossession, even when the story points elsewhere. Its plain delivery makes the bureaucracy sound like dialogue, and that is the point.
