Linda Sikhakhane Quartet
About This Event
South African saxophonist and composer Linda Sikhakhane, whose early training in Umlazi, Durban was shaped by mentors Dr Brian Thusi and Khulekani Bhengu, brings material rooted in that background with the Linda Sikhakhane Quartet. He studied at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and received support from SAMRO, the National Arts Council and the Leeds Youth Bursary; his writing favors clear melodic lines and patient ensemble listening over spectacle. The group appears in an intimate club setting at The Django.
