Linda Sikhakhane Quartet: Jazz Ensemble in New York

About Linda Sikhakhane Quartet

The Linda Sikhakhane Quartet is led by South African saxophonist and composer Linda Sikhakhane, whose early musical grounding in Umlazi, Durban, was shaped by mentors Dr Brian Thusi and Khulekani Bhengu. He later studied at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and has received support from SAMRO, the National Arts Council, and the Leeds Youth Bursary. In New York City, the group appears at The Django, bringing Sikhakhane’s writing into an intimate club setting. The performances favor a clear melodic line and patient ensemble listening over spectacle.
