In New York City he appears in projects that emphasize composer–performer dialogue, including Interpretations at Roulette alongside vocalist Thomas Buckner.

Joe McPhee & AC Diamond work in the orbit of free and experimental jazz, often in small-group settings where improvisation is treated as composition in real time.
