The Luminous Black Quintet
About This Event
At Smalls Jazz Club, rising jazz musician Ilhan Saferali fronts both quartet and quintet formats across the bill. The Lummie Spann Quintet, heard in New York club rooms and including sets at Smalls, favors ensemble balance and attention to how horns and rhythm trade space, so personnel shifts and repertoire choices carry audible weight in late-night sets.

Lummie Spann Quintet
The Lummie Spann Quintet is a jazz small group heard in New York City club rooms, including sets at Smalls Jazz Club. On bills that also list Ilhan Saferali in quartet and quintet formats, the group works in a context where personnel shifts and repertoire choices matter from set to set.
