About This Event
A Very SW!NG OUT Holiday, presented as a Joyce Theater production, brings swing-era social dance and its stage adaptations to The Joyce Theater. The ensemble frames work around partnered rhythm, timing and footwork, emphasizing crisp musical phrasing and a legible movement vocabulary as it situates vernacular dance traditions in a concert setting.
About A Very SW!NG OUT Holiday: A Joyce Theater Production
At The Joyce Theater, *A Very SW!NG OUT Holiday: A Joyce Theater Production* presents a seasonal dance program shaped by Swing Out’s stage language. The work draws on vernacular dance lineages and the social structures that come with them, shifting between ensemble passages and featured moments. In New York, where swing and jazz have long been part of the city’s performance ecology, the production reads as a small record of how communal dance traditions are translated for the proscenium. Its clearest achievement is its attention to rhythm as both music and social cue.
