    About This Event

Part 7 of a series presenting the complete piano sonatas of Ludwig van Beethoven, titled "Years of Pain and Struggle," is presented at Bargemusic with an onstage conversation. The program frames Beethoven’s keyboard works within his shift from Classical formalism toward Romantic expressiveness, highlighting the personal and stylistic tensions suggested by the series title.

    About Complete piano sonatas

Ludwig van Beethoven wrote 32 mature piano sonatas between 1795 and 1822. Although originally not intended to be a meaningful whole, as a set they comprise one of the most important collections of works in the history of music.
