Nrityagram Dance Ensemble: KHAṄKHAṆĀ
About This Event
Nrityagram Dance Ensemble presents KHAṄKHAṆĀ at The Joyce Theater. Nrityagram is a one-of-a-kind collective of artistes where dance is a way of life. Their ensemble work grows out of sustained communal training and collaboration, and this program foregrounds that group-based method on the Joyce stage.
About KHAṄKHAṆĀ
At The Joyce Theater in New York City, “KHAṄKHAṆĀ” brings the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble into a close-view setting where rhythmic footwork and measured gesture carry the narrative weight. The work draws on South Indian classical vocabularies, shaping them for an ensemble that moves as a single instrument, then breaks into distinct voices. If this marks its first major New York presentation, it also reads as a reminder of how living lineages travel and adapt on local stages. One clear virtue is its discipline: form is treated as content, not decoration.
