Night Two at Roulette brings a cross-section of experimental practice featuring Carlos Giffoni, Lee Ranaldo, Raven Chacon, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Bill Nace, and Charmaine Lee. Chacon appears as a Pulitzer Prize–winning composer whose work bridges contemporary composition and sound art; Ranaldo brings an alternative-rock, Sonic Youth background; Whitman, Nace, and Lee present facets of live electronics, electroacoustic guitar, and voice/feedback improvisation.
About the Artists
Bill Nace
Bill Nace is an experimental guitarist whose work moves between rock structures and electroacoustic noise, with ties to New York City’s downtown scene. He has collaborated with figures such as Joe McPhee, Thurston Moore, and Kim Gordon in Body/Head, and often works in small, volatile pairings.
Charmaine Lee
Charmaine Lee (b. 1991) is an Australian vocalist based in New York. Using the voice, feedback, and live processing, Lee's practice is primarily concerned with risk-taking, playfulness, and improvisation.
Lee Ranaldo
Lee Ranaldo is an American musician, songwriter, and visual artist, recognized for his contributions to the alternative rock genre, particularly through his work with Sonic Youth.
Raven Chacon
Raven Chacon is a Diné composer, musician, and artist. Born in Fort Defiance, Arizona within the Navajo Nation, Chacon became the first Native American to win a Pulitzer Prize for Music, for his Voiceless Mass in 2022.
