Selwyn Birchwood is a Tampa-born guitarist and vocalist who came to wider attention after winning the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge in 2013 and receiving an Albert King Guitarist of the Year honor. He writes and performs original material, primarily on electric guitar and electric lap steel. At New York’s Iridium he folds Chicago-blues and Southern influences into a rock-pop band framework that favors groove and clear song structures.
