About Selwyn Birchwood

Selwyn Birchwood is a Tampa-born guitarist and vocalist who came to wider attention after winning the Blues Foundation’s International Blues Challenge in 2013, along with an Albert King Guitarist of the Year honor. He writes and performs original material, working primarily on electric guitar and electric lap steel. His playing draws from Chicago blues and Southern styles, filtered through a rock-pop band framework. At New York City’s Iridium, his sets favor groove and clear song structures over spectacle.
