Sexmob: 30th Anniversary of Steven Bernstein's Sexmob

Sexmob at 30 marks three decades of the New York–based project led by slide trumpeter Steven Bernstein, a band that first took shape in the Knitting Factory’s downtown ecosystem. The group is known for pulling recognizable pop material into off-kilter jazz frameworks, using humor and abrupt stylistic turns as compositional tools.

Sexmob is a New York City jazz group formed at the Knitting Factory as a working band for Steven Bernstein’s slide trumpet. Over the years, the ensemble has built its sets around familiar pop and rock tunes, treated as raw material for playful, angular rearrangements.
