Violinist and composer Tomoko Omura, named #1 Rising Star Violinist in Downbeat Magazine’s 2021 Critics Poll and leader of five albums including Branches Vol. 2, leads a quartet at Bar Bayeux. She is joined by pianist Glenn Zaleski, bassist Pablo Menares and drummer Jay Sawyer. The program pairs Omura’s recent compositional work for five-string violin with Zaleski’s contemporary piano voice and a rhythm section oriented toward close listening and open-ended form.

At Bar Bayeux, he’s appeared with violinist Tomoko Omura alongside pianist Glenn Zaleski and bassist Pablo Menares, and with vocalist Aubrey Johnson in a sextet including Alex LoRe, Chris McCarthy, and Matt Aronoff.
