About L'Rain

L’Rain is the performance project of New York-based experimental musician Taja Cheek, working at the crossroads of rock/pop and hip-hop/R&B with a neo-psychedelic, art-pop edge. The name traces back to her mother, Lorraine, and the earliest L’Rain recordings were shaped in the period after her death. In NYC, the group has appeared at venues including the Knitting Factory and Ruins at Knockdown Center, and has shared bills with artists such as serpentwithfeet and Yuka Honda (Eucademix). Cheek’s shows tend to favor structure and close listening over spectacle.
