Lou Donaldson Centennial Celebration: Jazz Musician in New York

About Lou Donaldson Centennial Celebration

Lou Donaldson Centennial Celebration is a New York City performance tribute presented at Dizzy’s Club, tracing the alto saxophonist’s arc from early bebop study to a blues-forward, groove-centered language. The program reflects Donaldson’s ties to Charlie Parker’s vocabulary while following his turn toward hard bop and soul jazz. It draws on the repertoire and bandstand history associated with Donaldson’s long career. The approach favors narrative continuity over spectacle, letting sound and feel define the portrait.
