Chick Corea Afro-Caribbean Experience is a jazz group built around the late pianist and composer’s long-running dialogue with Latin and Afro-Caribbean rhythm. The project brings Corea into conversation with Cuban pianist and composer Elio Villafranca, drawing on jazz fusion and Latin jazz vocabulary while leaving room for open improvisation. In New York City, the group has appeared at Dizzy’s Club, including the “Chick’s Birthday” bill that paired Corea and Villafranca in this format.
