Blimp Band is a New York City–based group working at the edge of jazz and free improvisation, heard in sets at Bar Bayeux. The lineup has included pianist Julian Shore, guitarist Max Light, bassist Massimo Biolcati, and drummer Colin Stranahan. Biolcati’s background spans projects like Gilfema and the Lionel Loueke Trio, alongside his behind-the-scenes work as a core developer of the iReal Pro app. Their performances favor structure that can be dismantled in real time, with grooves appearing and dissolving as the ensemble listens.
