Ben Vereen: Singer-Songwriter in New York

About Ben Vereen

Ben Vereen is an American actor, dancer, and singer whose career took shape on New York stages. He first drew wide attention in the original Broadway company of *Jesus Christ Superstar*, then won a Tony for leading *Pippin*. His work blends theatrical storytelling with the precision of a dancer, often treating a concert as a sequence of scenes rather than a set list. At NJPAC, his 80th birthday celebration reflects a legacy built in the Broadway tradition and carried into live performance.
