John Lennon: Singer-Songwriter in New York

About John Lennon

John Lennon was an English songwriter, musician, and activist whose work shaped modern rock and pop. As a founder of the Beatles, he helped define a band-centered model of writing and recording, while his later solo material often narrowed in on direct language and pointed themes; his songs tend to favor candor over ornament. In New York City, his legacy is marked on stages such as Town Hall through tributes including the 46th Annual John Lennon Tribute benefit for Theatre Within, with performers like Cyndi Lauper interpreting his catalog in a live setting.
