Stanley Jordan: Jazz Musician in New York

About Stanley Jordan

Stanley Jordan is an American jazz guitarist whose work centers on a two-handed tapping approach, using both hands on the fretboard to shape melody and harmony at once. The technique lets him build contrapuntal lines and extended chords in real time, and it strongly informs his improvisational phrasing. In New York City, he appears at the Iridium for late-night sets where the mechanics of the guitar become part of the music’s structure. His performances favor precision and layered texture over showmanship.
