the works of John Coltrane

0 upcoming performances in New York

Presented at Freddy’s Bar in Brooklyn, *The Works of John Coltrane* traces the arc of a musician who helped move jazz from club craft into a language of modern art. Rooted in New York’s mid-century scene, Coltrane’s recordings and residencies shaped the city’s listening culture and the working lives of countless players. The evening sits alongside Freddy’s mix of open mics, comedy, karaoke, and storytelling, treating improvisation as a shared civic practice. One clear takeaway remains: Coltrane’s music still sets a standard for risk and rigor.
