Window Installation: SILENCE=DEATH
0 upcoming performances in New York
At the New Museum, *Window Installation: SILENCE=DEATH* presents the ACT UP–associated slogan as a public-facing artwork, using the museum’s street-level visibility to place protest language back into everyday circulation. The work points to the AIDS crisis and the politics of speech and erasure in New York, where the image first took hold as both graphic design and organizing tool. It reads less like a memorial than a warning about what silence enables. The window format makes the message unavoidable, but still contingent on who is looking.
