Now on view at The Met, *View Finding: Selections from The Walther Collection* draws from a major private archive of modern and contemporary photography, tracking how artists use the camera to frame people, places, and power. The exhibition moves across different photographic languages, from documentary approaches to staged or conceptual work, and asks what is gained or distorted in the act of “finding” a view. In New York, where museum photography has long shaped public memory, this presentation extends that civic conversation. One clear takeaway is how often the pictures expose the photographer’s position as part of the subject.
