UpDating began in New York City in 2019 as a live, reality-format stage show, then spilled outward through short-form video, where its clips circulated widely and built a large following. Its rise points to a local feedback loop: downtown performance culture shaping what later travels nationally, and the internet returning that attention to the room. On December 19, 2025, UpDating appears at City Winery NYC’s Loft in a rock/pop setting. One critical note: the project’s meaning shifts in person, where timing and audience response carry more weight than the edit.
