*On the Town* is a 1944 musical with music by Leonard Bernstein and a book and lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, drawn from the earlier ballet *Fancy Free*. It follows three Navy sailors on 24-hour shore leave, moving through a fast, fragmentary New York of subway stops, dance halls, and chance encounters.
