Symphony No. 6 (Beethoven)

Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in F major, the “Pastoral,” is a rare case in his output: a symphony that openly traces a sequence of countryside scenes, from calm arrival to storm and release. Finished in 1808, it shows him stretching Classical balance toward a more descriptive, early-Romantic voice. It has long been a fixture in New York’s concert life, heard regularly by the city’s major orchestras even if no single “NYC premiere” is firmly documented. At NJPAC, the New Jersey Symphony places it back in the region’s shared musical circulation.
