At Bar Bayeux, the house band BK Strays takes up the book of Billy Strayhorn, a composer whose work helped define the modern jazz repertoire in New York’s big-band era. Guitarists Will Bernard and Steve Cardenas join the group, alongside Dan Loomis on bass and Diego Voglino on drums, moving between jazz structure and freer motion. Strayhorn’s songs arrive here as material for re-interpretation rather than preservation. One result is a reminder that these compositions were built to travel, and to change with the room.
