*Stranger Things: The First Shadow* brings the Netflix universe to the stage as a prequel focused on Henry Creel, charting the early history that later feeds into the figure known as Vecna. Written by Kate Trefry from a story developed with the Duffer Brothers and Jack Thorne, the production is directed by Stephen Daldry and Justin Martin. After opening in London’s West End in 2023, it began its Broadway run at New York City’s Marquis Theatre on April 22, 2025, and is slated to close in 2026. Its key cultural point is canonical status, extending franchise storytelling into live theatre with unusual narrative authority.
