Set Your Goals

Released in 1995, *Set Your Goals* marks CIV’s first full-length statement, captured at a moment when New York’s post-hardcore and punk networks were tightening into a recognizable scene. The record moves with concise rock/pop structures, built for momentum, and it carries the band’s best-known song, “Can’t Wait One Minute More,” as a kind of calling card. At Brooklyn Bowl, the album is heard in a live context alongside Into Another and Orange 9mm, linking parallel strands of NYC’s 1990s guitar music. Its significance is less about novelty than about documentation: a snapshot of a local sound moving into wider circulation.
