Not the TV competition, this “other RuPaul’s Drag Race” is a New York club-night riff on drag’s race-track energy: quick changes, hard cuts, and music that keeps the room in motion. It’s currently staged across C’mon Everybody, Littlefield, and 3 Dollar Bill, with sets from whatever mike, Moorea Masa, The Mood, BEAR BELLY, and Hilary Duff moving between electronic and rock/pop. New York has long functioned as drag’s working laboratory, where styles are tested live before they travel. The critical point is simple: here, “drag race” reads less as a contest than as a method—speed as aesthetics.
