Piano Concerto in F
0 upcoming performances in New York
George Gershwin’s *Piano Concerto in F* (1925) is a three-movement work that treats jazz rhythm and classical form as equal partners. It followed the New York success of *Rhapsody in Blue* and helped place concert music in direct conversation with the city’s dance halls and Broadway orchestras. At David Geffen Hall, the New York Philharmonic is led by Gustavo Gimeno with Hélène Grimaud as soloist, in a program that also frames Dvořák’s New York years. Its most telling strength is its insistence on urban energy without abandoning structure.
