Meredith Willson’s *The Music Man* follows Harold Hill, a smooth-talking grifter who sells a Midwestern town on the idea of a boys’ band he cannot actually teach. The scheme collides with Marian, the local librarian and piano teacher, whose skepticism gives way as Hill changes her younger brother’s prospects and complicates his own exit plan. First hitting Broadway in 1957, the show remains a touchstone of American musical theater’s view of civic optimism and suspicion. This Bowery Electric run frames it in a Rock/Pop idiom, with Ji-Man Park featured.
