Now at the Neil Simon Theatre, *MJ* is a Broadway jukebox musical that traces Michael Jackson during rehearsals for the 1992 *Dangerous* World Tour. The book by Lynn Nottage frames the work as an inquiry into process, showing how songs, dance, and image are built through collaboration and control. Directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, it places Jackson’s catalog inside a tightly organized backstage narrative. Since premiering in New York in 2021, it has become part of the city’s ongoing conversation about pop legacy and authorship.
