Now playing through NYC Parks Events at the Majestic Theatre, *The Lost Boys* translates the 1987 cult horror-comedy film into a stage musical rooted in indie pop/rock. The score comes from the band the Rescues, with a book by David Hornsby and Chris Hoch, reshaping a familiar story of teenage drift, family rupture, and vampiric mythology into live performance. No specific NYC premiere history is widely documented, but its presence in the city’s public-events circuit reflects how cult cinema continues to migrate into contemporary musical theater. The show’s best moments treat nostalgia as material, not an end point.
