Lincoln in the Bardo

1 upcoming performance in New York

Presented at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, *Lincoln in the Bardo* arrives through Works & Process in a dance-centered staging that brings together The Metropolitan Opera with composer Missy Mazzoli and librettist Royce Vavrek, alongside Miami City Ballet and Patricia Delgado. The piece draws on George Saunders’s 2017 novel, translating its fractured, choral view of grief and American public life into movement and music. In a city where the Met’s commissions often define the national operatic conversation, this outing reads as a measured test of how operatic narrative can be reassembled on a museum stage. The result treats history less as pageant than as an argument conducted by bodies and voices.
