Now at NJPAC, *Jersey City Nutcracker* reframes Tchaikovsky’s familiar holiday ballet through the streets and neighborhoods across the river from New York. Nimbus Dance, led by founder and choreographer Samuel Pott, follows two children as they move through an imagined cityscape and learn how friendship and community take shape under pressure. The production sits in the region’s long Nutcracker tradition, but shifts attention from courtly fantasy to local civic life. Its strongest choice is treating place as narrative, not decoration.
