JAWS-A-THON runs live at Freddy’s Bar in Brooklyn, framing the room as a small-stage survey of New York’s do-it-yourself performance culture. The calendar folds together Mimsey’s Open Mic on the 1st and 3rd Sundays (music, comedy, and poetry), karaoke on those same Sundays, Humans Against Music, and comedy open mics every Monday and Wednesday. The series also makes space for “So What Happened Was…,” a monthly storytelling night on third Mondays after the comedy set, plus one-off bills like Highland Shatner’s St. Pat’s Show. It isn’t a single show so much as an ongoing record of who is willing to get up and speak.
