Kaija Saariaho’s *Innocence* is a five-act opera with a Finnish-language libretto by Sofi Oksanen, shaped for performance in translation by Aleksi Barrière. The work follows the afterlife of a violent event and the way private guilt and public memory keep colliding, often through overlapping voices rather than tidy resolution. Presented at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in the Frank Lloyd Wright rotunda, it appears here in the Works & Process series with The Metropolitan Opera, framed as dance. Its clear-eyed structure treats trauma as civic material, not spectacle.
