*Hell’s Kitchen* is a jukebox musical shaped around the songs of Alicia Keys, framed by a semi-autobiographical coming-of-age story set in 1990s Manhattan. It began its New York run at The Public Theater in 2023 before moving to Broadway at the Shubert Theatre in 2024, adding another chapter to the city’s tradition of neighborhood stories told through pop music. The book by Kristoffer Diaz keeps the focus on family, desire, and the pressure of the street outside the window. One clear takeaway is how the score functions less as nostalgia than as a map of a specific time and place. Children under 4 are not admitted.
