Heart of Darkness

0 upcoming performances in New York

At L’Alliance New York, *Heart of Darkness* is reframed as a rock/pop performance that follows Marlow, a working captain sent upriver into the African interior on behalf of a European trading enterprise. The journey becomes an inquiry into how systems of extraction warp language, power, and personal ethics, even for those who think they are only doing a job. There is no widely documented NYC-premiere lineage for this specific staging; its local significance lies in how a canonical critique of colonial rule is translated into contemporary sound. The music’s pulse can sharpen the story’s unease without softening its questions.
