Ellingtoniana

At Dizzy’s Club in New York City, *Ellingtoniana* revisits Duke Ellington’s songbook in a live setting shaped by working musicians rather than museum logic. The Sant Andreu Jazz Band is joined by saxophonist Paul Nedzela as a featured guest, placing a youth ensemble in direct conversation with a repertory that helped define the city’s jazz identity in the swing era. The set traces how Ellington’s writing holds up under modern phrasing and contemporary band dynamics. One thing comes through clearly: the arrangements reward precision without draining the music of risk.
