Democracy Mao

1 upcoming performance in New York

Democracy Mao is a comedy showcase built around a rotating mix of stand-up voices, presented here at New York Comedy Club’s East Village room. The lineup includes Kunal C. Arora, Jeff Scheen, Lizzy Cassidy, Terry Thomas Jr., and Michael Brigante, with Scheen drawing on the road-tested perspective he’s developed touring with Jeff Arcuri and co-hosting the Democracy Mao project. There’s no established NYC-premiere history tied to the show, but its significance sits in the city’s working-club circuit. One thing it documents, in real time, is how comics sharpen material in front of a downtown crowd.
