DanceAfrica is a long-running New York City gathering that treats dance as cultural record, linking African and diasporic forms through performance, music, film, and community programs. In NYC it is most visible at BAM and in NYC Parks events, where indoor repertory shares space with an outdoor bazaar and public workshops. Recent BAM programs, including *Remembering* with the DanceAfrica Ensemble, foreground rhythm, lineage, and collective exchange over individual display. Its endurance has made it a reliable barometer of how diaspora traditions are carried, revised, and taught in the city.
