At Symphony Space, *Cymbeline, Refinished* presents George Bernard Shaw’s 1937 rewrite of the final act of Shakespeare’s *Cymbeline*, turning the ending into an argument with the original. Shaw uses the fragment to test what happens when a modern dramatist insists on logic, politics, and moral consequence where Shakespeare leans on romance and reconciliation. Featured performers include Ani DiFranco, Tony Trischka, Abby Jimenez, Annabelle Gurwitch, and Caro Claire Burke. If this is an NYC premiere, it reads less as revival than as a public footnote in the long New York tradition of reworking the canon.
