Cirque Kalabanté: Wow (World of Words)

1 upcoming performance in New York

At the Milton G. Bassin Performing Arts Center, *Cirque Kalabanté: Wow (World of Words)* arrives in New York as a stage work that links physical spectacle to language and community. The program brings together Miguel Anggelo with the Queens College Choral Society, the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, the Queens Symphony Orchestra, and Santiago Cruz, framing the event as a meeting point for the borough’s musical lineages. The title’s emphasis on “words” suggests an inquiry into how stories travel across cultures and disciplines. Its most persuasive moments are likely to be the ones that let contrast—choir, orchestra, and popular forms—sit side by side without smoothing over difference.
