Bitches Brew

0 upcoming performances in New York

Recorded in 1969 at Columbia’s Studio B in Manhattan, *Bitches Brew* is one of Miles Davis’s defining New York–made documents of transition. Electric keyboards and guitar sit alongside trumpet lines, with improvisation organized more like rock sessions than swing-era jazz structures, then shaped in the edit by producer Teo Macero. Its release in 1970 helped formalize what later got called jazz fusion, linking the city’s studio culture to its late‑’60s cross‑genre ferment. The record’s lasting claim is that it treats the studio itself as an instrument.
