Now at the John Golden Theatre, *Art* arrives in New York as a stage musical that turns a familiar argument into a study of taste and status. The story follows friends shaken by the purchase of an abstract artwork, and the way one object can expose the rules, insecurities, and loyalties inside a long relationship. In the city that treats cultural judgment as social currency, the piece reads as a quiet report on how “serious” art gets used, defended, and doubted. Its sharpest insight is that the dispute is rarely about the canvas alone.
