American Mahjong: A Conversation with Min Jin Lee

1 upcoming performance in New York

At the Milton G. Bassin Performing Arts Center in Queens, *American Mahjong: A Conversation with Min Jin Lee* frames a public dialogue around immigrant history, language, and the everyday strategies of belonging. The title’s nod to mahjong points to intergenerational spaces where stories are traded, kept, and revised in the city’s boroughs. In New York’s long tradition of literary talk-as-performance, the event treats conversation as cultural record, not content. The most telling detail is its setting: a campus stage that mirrors the civic role Queens plays in American letters.
