Aladdin

Disney’s *Aladdin* brings the 1992 animated film to the stage, following a street-smart young man, a princess testing the boundaries of palace life, and a genie whose power comes with rules. The score draws on Alan Menken’s music with lyrics from Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, and Chad Beguelin, restoring songs written for the film but left unused and adding new numbers for the theatrical form. The musical began its Broadway run at the New Amsterdam Theatre in 2014, part of Times Square’s long arc of family-centered spectacle. Currently, it is presented as a live event at St. George Theatre and the New Amsterdam Theatre.
