Sonderlust New York Performances

*Sonderlust* is Kishi Bashi’s rock/pop record built from violin lines, bright hooks, and densely layered production that treats the studio like an ensemble. At Irving Plaza, the 10th Anniversary Tour reframes those songs through multi-instrument arrangements, drawing on the same compositional rigor heard in his Emmy-nominated film work. Bayonne opens with a studio-minded set that emphasizes texture and restraint. The album’s lasting significance is how it links chamber-pop technique to indie songcraft, reflecting a New York scene where genre boundaries stay negotiable.
